Van Halen - Madison Square Garden: setlist y primeros vídeos

El pasado 28 de febrero Van Halen protagonizó una actuación "estelar" en el neoyorkino Madison Square Garden, que en teoría servía para promocionar ese nuevo disco titulado A Different Kind Of Truth (crítica del disco). Hacía 2 meses de esa presentación en el Cafe Wha? y este era el momento esperado, en un escenario importante, en el que los de Roth se expresarían a sus anchas. No obstante, apenas tocaron cuatro temas del nuevo álbum: "Tatoo", "She's A Woman", "The Trouble With Never" y "China Town" (e incluso en esta se le olvidó la letra al cantante) y el resto fue un refrito de temas conocidos y versiones; eso sí, todo presentado de manera muy espectacular y demás.

La crítica de Rolling Stone es demoledora: "The setlist teetered between familiar hits ("Runnin' With The Devil," "Hot For Teacher"), fan favorites ("Romeo Delight," "Women In Love") songs from their new LP ("Tattoo," "China Town") and genuine deep cuts ("Girl Gone Bad," "Hear About It Later.") They made sure to never go too long without busting out a giant radio hit, and the fact that tracks from 1984 outnumbered cuts from the new album is telling. Roth even flubbed the lyrics to "China Town." "I forgot the fucking words," he said midway through. "Go to the chorus." Lead-off single "Tattoo," however, sounded shockingly great".
